Sht. LE No1 MKI, legit or high quality DARA?

Came across these photos elsewhere and they piqued my interests. The crest on the wrist and knox look familiar but I can't place it. Don't recall ever seeing BSA mark the wrist B.S.A. Co Ltd.

Me too. Workmanship much too good for a Khyber Pass variety, so a foreign government contract would seem likely.

I've seen it on commercial BSA rifles, albeit in a different font.

Are you sure it wasn't a LSA, they had Ltd at the end & people quite often mistake LSA for BSA. A photo of a BSA marking with Ltd would be good

Did not B.S.A. Co. Ltd become B.S.A. & M. Co. Ltd. in 1873? Perhaps this rifle was overhauled in an Afghan arsenal and incorrect BSA moniker stamped on to reflect the guns original maker? I know i would love to own it!
