Walnut forestock to repair a chopped stock

I've got an M17 stock that's been sawed off at the barrel band, looking for a piece of walnut to splice back onto it. It doesn't have to be off a p14 or m17, as long as it's 8" or longer I can work with whatever you have. A bubba'd forestock off an SMLE would work, for example. My plan is to take the m17 stock and make it into somewhat of a hybrid between an smle and a mannlicher sporter stock, and then put it on my P14 magnum project.
