M 1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer in LGS

I haven’t seen one of these before and don’t know much about them. I admit I was fooled by the stock. I mentioned to the LGS owner that I thought the stock maybe had some of “Bubba’s” handy work and didn’t look “military.” He assured me it was and of quality workmanship. He said the only “knock” on this rifle was the trigger set (double set?) had been changed and that was at his asking price was $949.00 vice $1,200-$1,400 if the trigger was correct. I don’t know, so I’d like your feedback about this rifle and the store owners comments.

Pity military rifles don't all look like this 'military' rifle, then everybody would have one. Would be interesting to know when the military had set triggers for general use.

Looks like a nice rifle, we need more photos to be able to say more - action, full length, etc.

It's a true classic and a beautiful rifle. I've seen a couple before and had the opportunity to shoot one. The LGS owner is right that the double trigger has been changed out, and that is a pity. The double trigger allows an ounces light pull once it has been set which was perfect for hunting.

Definitely not a military issued firearm. Possibly a nicely redone sporter or maybe a factory sporting carbine, but 100% not military issue in that configuration.

No, it isn't military. It is a hunting rifle.

Yep. That one's a commercial hunting rifle with a Mannlicher stock. Been rode hard and put away wet.

6.5x54 caliber? Classic M1903 M-S carbine. These have quite a following. Needs some TLC. A thou might be on the high side. In excellent condition, intact, could easily bring $1500.
