    BSA Commercial rifle question

There was someone who was working on dating these but I can't remember who. Does anyone know about this and if they made any headway?

Yes, there is a member here who is publishing a book about the commercial Lees for which many of us are looking forward to reading.

It is not a simple task to date them. Every time I think that I have it figured out, I get another curve ball thrown at me! Seems the only rule to this is that there is no rule.

    I'm waiting for the book!

    The book is coming!

As englishman said, dating them is not a simple task, unless you are lucky enough to own one that is listed in a sales ledger somewhere (we have some of these)...otherwise it is a process of elimination and narrowing it down based on features and markings. If you post or send details of your rifle, I am happy to try to pin it down for you.

The book will have a flowchart for figuring out a date as near as possible.

I have one that went through Fulton and was sold to some one in Ottawa who's name is engraved on the stock disk. I tried tracing it that way but my privet eye abilities leave a lot to be desired.

If you send me photos or details of your rifle I can pin it down to within just a few years---you can PM me if you don't want to post on the forum.

As for the question about the book, I haven't priced out what a limited edition would cost. More likely there will just be a standard edition, but it will be hardcover and top-quality in every way. There will be no compromises on this book. I can sign the book if the owner wishes at no extra charge.

Put me on the list for a signed copy of the first addition ...

No doubt that it will quickly become 'The Lee Speed Bible'.
