Border Ballistics Technologies will make them for you, just tell Geoffrey exactly what size of head space gauge you want.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). I don't like coin gauges. I've had too many folks send rifles here that were supposedly out of spec when checked with them and when I check again with proper milspec gauges, there's nothing wrong. Of course, we have a saying in the South: "operator failure". I'm guessing that's more the problem than the gauges themselves.

Serious folks should contact BBT as Simon has said and get a real one made.

Apparently BBT will only sell to licensed gunsmiths or dealers, of which I am neither yet. I am hoping this only applies to their reamers and not the headspace gauges, but I'll ask anyway.

I hate to resurrect this thread but for the sake of those who still want a place to get their gauges: Geoff at BBT is the man for the job. Both gauges for what I call reasonable and in good time. I've tried my two nicer guns and both check out (just).

ANYONE wanting Headspace .303 gauges should talk to Geoff.

Hope this puts this whole shebang to rest properly.

I think you will find that .30-40 Kragicon shares the exact same "Go / No go' gauging of .064" / .074".

Being gauges for rimmed cartridges, they will have short bodies and be thus interchangeable between .303 and .30-40; not only serving those two chamberings, but pretty much any wildcat derived from them.

Common US gauges for .303 or .30/40 are .064" Go, .067" No-go, .070" Field. Only the "Go" is useful for inspecting arms in service. The "No-go" is good for installing new barrels and the .070" "Field" is simply useless.

At least at one point, Forster would make an .074" field gauge to order for a nominal fee. Not sure if that is still the case.
