Hey Brian. I'd be keen to learn more about the Ross rifles brought in from Turkey. To avoid taking this thread off-topic, if you have more info you can share, maybe start a new thread. As for the OP's question...my experience with Gew 98s is significantly smaller than many who have replied, but of the few I have had the opportunity to look at or buy, all were bolt m/m examples, though the bolt components all matched each other - supporting Brian's rifles in one pile, bolts in another - put one of each together scenario.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. That was near 20 years ago if memory serves. All I can really tell you about the Ross rifles is that they were all Britishicon pattern Mk.III. I was told they were given to the Turks post WW1 as aid along with many other current and obsolete weapons.
