    Picked up an SKS

Found this in the local gun shop a couple of weeks ago. It was a spur of the moment purchase. The price was too good to pass up. $199.00. Factory 636. Made circa 1972.

Have since refitted a bayonet. Cleaning rod should be here any day now.

Woah! That’s a real fine price these days.

Wonderful rifle as far as I’m concerned. Great cartridge too. I’d like to pick up a Russianicon one day. By the time I get around to it, they’ll cost $800 haha.

    Nice buy!!!

My son got me one for fathers day. It is norinco and still had cosmolineicon on it. Think he gave $300 for it. Only shot it out to 200 yards. Solid perforner with wslmart tula.

Back in the 1980s, when the Chinese SKS was first imported in numbers, they came in light oil. I knew a NY dealer (since passed) who used to dip them in cosmolineicon so the buyer thought they were military. Val Forgett told me that all of the SKS rifles had to be certified as police / security weapons as military Chinese SKS rifles were banned from importation. Bayonets were banned on all Chinese SKS rifles around 1989, and the installation of one on a rifle required 922r compliance. My 1988 Navy Arms import SKS has a memo under the hand guard giving the date of import and thus exempting the bayonet. I got it on-sale for $50.00.
