    That was because when they were sold to surplus they were stripped apart and sold separately. The picket pin scabbards weren't worth anything but the bayonet scabbards were and the story was started at that point that this was correct...for the cavalry...or some crap.

    I was fortunate in a member from another forum sold me a correct scabbard for $75 USD...but at least it was correct.

    It didn't have the whole front done when I found it, just the front sight and nipped off stock. I had to add the front band and finish everything, including taking down the muzzle to accept the muzzle ring of the bayonet. When I found it I could see the "Possibilities"...
