Sorry for the 2 month delay in my follow up here...somehow life, family and job really impede my range time! But we are good to go now....
Here are a couple photos and a video, in it's final form:
So I took a day off today for my birthday weekend and finally got to the range. The SLR ran really well. I shot about 100 rounds, 2 diff types of ammo (Lake City and Austrian surplus) thru 6 different magazines (5 oem and one plastic aftermarket).
Only had 1 ejection issue w/2 rounds, and that was when I tried one of the magazines (with a replacement spring) topped off to 20 rounds.
I will blame that on the magazine....as the next 18 exited w/no issues.
Note the nice round ejected cases.
Here is a link to U-tube from this mornings session....

To Brian....thanks a ton for your help....be proud of your work...it was clearly successful!...Thanks again, to everyone else who assisted me with this. Now that this project it is finished....I may need to start shopping for another one to rescue!
    Mike

    Mike,

I had it set on #4 so I'm guessing you didn't change it. The ejection looks very strong with your ammo. Try it on #5 to see if it still functions reliably. The ammo I used was 1984 RG L2A2. If it malfunctions with a good magazine, put it back on #4 and leave it be.

    Brian:
Yes, I left it as you set it up...on 4. At 4, it did a nice job of ensuring the spent brass was not an issue.....I will try 5 on my next trip and see how she does.
Here is the ammo I used..
