    still like the green furniture

I still like the plain simple early Colt (SP1 semi auto)this one has original military green furniture over the brown fibre. The green was never used on the Colt civilian SP1 but
being that it is a four digit rifle, it is a good way to show the early color.

The green color can change somewhat depending on exposure to the weather

    Mighty fine looking rifle.
I don’t care much for AR style rifles as a rule but these early ones with the long barrels and solid buttstock call to me!
Building a replica is on my “one day” list.

I had an original rifle, would have been a pricey one if I could have imported it to U.S. and had it registered there but since it was here no dice. The furniture was fibrite brown under green under black topcoat.

    early AR with green furniture

Mr Clark, also have the first (I think) manufactured drum for the AR-15 and AR-18 (will fit both). Hold 75 rounds too

I would consider the early drum to be very collectable but not that much in value, few are around and the new collectors like
the big super capacity drums. This drum that I showed in the photos actually had a factory recall and the drum was returned
for some modification as there is a paper in the box with details.

These early drums worked very well in semi auto and were considered to be reliable. There were problems reported with using
these drums in full auto, some only firing five or six rounds and then not feeding any more cartridges. Looking back, part of this
problem could have been from the Edgewater buffer used in these rifles too
