Project Manager for the M16A1E1 (adopted as M16A2) just passed

Maj Bruce Wincentsen USMC was the Project Manager for the USMC for this test. He lived in Stafford, Virginia.

I was the Test Director at Aberdeen Proving Ground for that test and we worked very well together as we were both NRA High Master shooters.

We maintained contact over the years until about a 18 months back his wife wrote me and told me he had Alzheimer's and that he might not sound just right when i talked with him. I evidently only called him on his good days and there was no impairment I could detect which I was thankful for.

He passed a few weeks back and when I got the call from the family we loaded up and headed for Quantico as I knew I had to be there for his family. Re-linked up with Marine Shooters I had shot with many times in the past. He was 87.

    Another good friend gone.

    MikieG,

Not sure how Lt. Col Marine (Ret'd) David Lutz came up, but I had the pleasure to work under Dave's watchful eye while I was at Knight's Armament (1995). If Dave does troll these waters, would love to hook up with him.

Apologies for this reply moving away from the OPs original message. Please accept my late condolences for the passing of Maj Bruce Wincentsen USMC .
