Eddystone Stock Mod Update-Project Finished Pics

Well I salvaged the sporter stock and turned it into this. Natural point of aim with the aperture sight is perfect for me. See previous project posts. This will do until I find an affordable good milsurp stock.

Until then I will just have to go to the range with it this way. No crying here! Came out good. I am happy:

Removed the high cheek riser. Reshaped it to my liking. Stripped and sanded the wood. Gave it five coats of BLOicon and a couple of coats of furniture wax:

The stock did not have a cross bolt, so I used a quarter inch threaded rod and some furniture assembly recessed hex nuts. Set it all into the wood with JB weld. On the rod threads too.

Decent salvage job considering this is what I started with:

    Great work!

I like furniture wax also, gives a nice finish with a slighty tacky feel.

I would leave as is, it looks too good to change.

    Why add a cross bolt?

Thanks for looking. I added the cross bolt because part of the wood had cracked, the bridge just behind the recoil lug. Glued it all back in and installed the bolt for strength. Military stocks have the bolt. The sporter did not. Also it did not have the sleeves for the trigger guard screws. This was also a contributing factor to the wood failure. I secured the sleeves in the wood with JB Weld. Hope it does well now. I also shimmed the rear of the mag box. Everything is tight all around the best I could get it. Range outing will tell all.
