    1897 Trench Gun Stock Stamps:

First of all I wanted to say hello as I a new to the forum. I'm currently working on a 1897 Trench gun clone. Getting closer and I'm looking to see if anyone would be kind enought to "Rent" the crossed cannon and "WB" inspector mark stock stamps? If not does anyone have any they would be interested in selling? Thanks

I’m not sure many folks around here look too kindly on these stamps. Too easy to pass a stamped up firearm on to an unsuspecting soul.

Building a replica sounds like a fun project though! Got any pictures?

Thats like asking has anyone got the E6 stamp and the BSA/H&H stamps so they can make up an M47C/S51 No.4 "T" purely for academic ownership of a faker.......... I am not trying to preempt you but its exactly why the stamps if they are out there should stay in a safe then again if you onsell the gun and destroy the fake stocks then all is good. Sorry but unless someone has a set that are obvious fakes I think you should be content with a look alike from a distance. Sorry to be an anti faker its just my take on the matter of faking real items because in the long run it ruins it for those of us that have outlaid hard earned cash for real specialty investment weapons only to have the price driven down by forgeries.

Never say never, but I doubt you'll get a regular member offering these stamps. Better to hunt the internet, we deal in correct here as much as possible.

This year I saw an M1icon Rifle, Winchester serial number 1,200001 sell for over five thousand dollars and the cartouche was a fake WRA WB and it had the wrong stock !

Also saw a gas trap rifle in the 21K serial number range sell for a lot on money and the SA SPG cartouche was faked too.

You have to wonder if the people that spend this kind of money know what they are buying (or care)

I'd say no they don't. Some guys go blind... Then when you point it out they get acrimonious and send you packing, "What do you know anyway?"...

The OP here seems to have vaporized after getting a less than hearty helping hand to do this one...
    Regards, Jim

I was way ahead of you on that one, like...get a rope... Anyway, we have all talked about fakes lots. We all know what the consensus is... With you completely.
