    An SRS check, please

    Hello Milsurp Friends,

Could I please get an SRS check for M1903A1 serial number: 1457549

1934 with an SA 4-33 barrel.

Rifle appears to be in very good condition, with pre-war C stock.

    Thanks.

Not listed, but if it has the characteristics of a NM ( star on the muzzle at approximately 6:00 o'clock, star gage record letter and number on the barrel under the hand guard, polished rails, and a coarse checked butt plate ), it is one.

No. It has a pre-war C stock with Augusta Arsenal (AA) stamps on the left side of stock at rear of receiver. The rails are finished, not polished as is the NS marked bolt. of the 53 photos, there isn't a clear view of the crown, so I asked the seller about the star gage mark. It has the fine checked butt plate. On the top hand guard, forward of the lower band, is "D2817" ......cannot make out the numbers too clear. Most HG drawing numbers are behind the lower band. No Hatcher hole at left of receiver.

This rifle would fill a gap in my 1929-1940 collection. Just wish the reciever/barrel date were of same year. Nonetheless, it seems to be an original mating.

It is a GB auction: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/784568631

The stock is not a pre WW2 stock. The grip is too fat and it has the odd dip in the inletting on the left side forward of the cut off. Still a very nice rifle and could be one of the elusive non NM M1903A1 rifles. If it had the original pre WW2 pistol grip stock and appropriate cartouche, it would be a prize.

I just noticed that. Ok. WOnder why that is there? Could it be one of the Kline stocks? Hmmmm???. I do have a real pre-war C stock that I have used on a parts build rifle. I suppose I could swap the stocks out. But that takes away from whatever "history" this rifle/stock combination has.

Earlier post For an SRS check was negative, but serial fell within a range.

WHat period of stock would you say it is? War time or post war rebuild replacement? Is the "AA" rebuild stamp ok?

I looked around and saw several of that stock on rifles. Could you please elaborate on what it is....Replacement stock?. What time period? What manufacturer? How about the "AA" stamp? Did that look ok...original/authentic?
