Yes they would have been. I knew you'd put on the walnut, I like them too.

Does anyone have an opinion of the meaning of the number "41" stamp just forward of the slide stop "button"?

I would think a local identifier like a rack number.

Sounds about right. It certainly is not like any other inspectors mark I have seen, and neither is it a stamp from rebuilding, like AA (Augusta Arsenal) or ANAD (Anniston Army Arsenal).

There are those...who live these pistols. They come along at times but it seems we have to wait.

How many of us on this forum got lucky and received their 1911? My number was right at 9700 and I got the call the 3rd week of October and got my pistol two days later. It's a Remington Rand lower and slide that I think are both original to the pistol. It has Frank Krack's inspection stamp and two sets of RIA arsenal inspection stamps although only the barrel seems to have been replaced(with an 80's era GI barrel)and it still has it's original finish. I'm surprised the CMPicon didn't save this one for the auction. I would like to post pictures but right now I'm trying to figure out a now way to host them so I can put them in my posts. I have always used photobucket and never had a problem or had to pay until now, and I refuse to. They basically have all my pictures hostage. As soon as I figure out the best way I will post pictures of the 1911.
