    M1 stock markings?

Looking at another post yesterday, I saw that stocks are marked in the sling cutout. I checked mine and there it was, never noticed before, very faint TN and above what looks like TRMBL. Searching on stock markings, I found a couple of references to 'TREMBLE'.

I assume that Tremble was the company that produced the stock that then went to National Postal Meter where the M1icon was completed. I don't recall ever seeing Tremble mentioned in Bruce Canfield's book. I guess there were other stock manufacturers?

The stock is marked with the US Ordnance cross canon cartouche and what I assume was the manufacturer when the carbine was assembled - NPM (National Postal Meter) and the name of the US Govt inspector FJA - Frank J. Atwood. The stock is now on a Standard Products receiver (s/n 2167459) with an Underwood barrel, marked I-44, which is how it came to me.

The carbine is deactivated to comply with UKicon firearm laws. It's a nice M1 with high wood which I believe is a bit unusual.

Any confirmation of the above would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
