    Bren gun tripod missing parts

    Hello guys,

I recently bought a Mk2 (I think) bren gun tripod but there is 1 part missing and 1 part wrong.
The front pivot mount & the rear threaded spindle.
Here is a picture of my tripod:
    Attachment 96113

If anyone could help me out finding those missing parts, that would be great.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,

It looks like a Mk1* tripod rather than Mk2. Kev G will have the front mount but you may need a whole new T&E gear as I don’t think the top is a separate part.

Agree on the type 1 mount, believe that the front leg is either late model or changed out. As far as the T&E go I'll bet (not much) that the top piece will come off so the Bren can mount correctly. My thoughs.

By the whole top piece I'm thinking that you are talking about the item added to the top of the screw. I'm thinking that the screw and down is an original T&E with the added piece of course.
When I make the pic larger I think that I see a pin or two and I'm thinking that the top added piece will rotate forward and come off. Hope that the owner will check it out and see if it can be removed.
Also the traverse stops are mk 2. I just rebuilt about a dozen of those mk2 stops.

Brit plumber Thanks for all of the work that you have done with both the Bren and Tripod numbers. I'm still trying to get my Tripod numbers and such figured out. Just found out about the 2 holes on the left leg and what they are for. Britishicon Bren Tripods are not Germanicon Lafettes which I know a lot more about. Hope to keep learning from you folks that have been there seen and done that. Thanks again.

Looking at the pic again you are also missing the pin and spring in the front which locks the AA pole or Enfield into place. Think that you are going to be making the pin. Good Luck.

As a Mk1* it wouldn’t have the pin for the AA leg or Enfield Rifleicon. If he posts up the Serial number I’ll see where it fits in the grand scheme of things. If it’s something like a G, H or maybe J prefix serial, chances are it’s a Mk1*, if it’s an A to E/F then it started life as a Mk1 and has been repaired/rebuilt as a Mk2.

Not trying to highjack this thread but I keep learning from it.

    Brit plumber
I have looked in several websites and several places in this website, where is your Bren Tripod listing of numbers?
Would love to see it and anything else that's out there on the Bren Tripod.
I'm trying to rebuild a couple of them and have questions. Also would be happy to share a few tripod numbers.
    Thanks
