    CMP ordered Garand

I ordered this rifle earlier this month and had for about a week, I was hoping for WW2 serials and wood but wound up being very pleased with a Korean War SA 4.3 serial and a very nice birch stock. The muzzle is +1 and throat 2.

What surprised me about these USGI Birch replacements is just how thick they are compared to original walnut.

If more photos are wanted I can post them.

Yes, I once ordered a brand new set of matching Birch from Gun Parts back in the '80's. It was orange and perfect and huge. I think I sanded it down to make it closer to the WW2 wood fit.

That's excellent, if I may ask, how long did it take for you to get it once you placed the order?
    Thanks

I'd be interested in seeing the markings stamped on the stock.

Neal Myers, there is only one proof P stamping on the stock as pictured.

The rifle also came with an IHC oprod in it as well. And a W.R.A hammer. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them!

Actually a very nice piece of birch with a lot of grain in it. Usually they are just plain jane with no grain.

    Cheers

    Nice collection...
slightly off topic...but what technique do you use to make the lettering in white? paint? something else? how do you apply it so neatly? I like how this looks, and was curious....

I’ll jump in on that. A grease pencil does the trick just fine. And you can buy them in pretty much any color you’d like.
