    Butt Marking Disc

I wonder if anyone can throw some light on the markings on this butt marking disc
I've got PLs book and deciphered it as best I can:

2nd Hereford Territorial Royal Engineers Field Company (I think?)

I've tried to research this with not a lot of luck

Can anyone confirm its right or wrong and maybe throw some light on any history of 2HF CO RE

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Having looked in Skennertonicon's Broad Arrow book Neil I couldn't find a match.

I suspect your analysis is probably right, although I did wonder about having CO stamped on there for company.
If 2HF RE were an "independent" RE Fld Company than I think you're on the nail!

    Other opinions might vary!

    Thanks, Mick
I've got a very nice 1906 Mk1* SMLE (one of the BSA Sparkbrook marked ones) that I've been looking for an appropriately marked disc for a while now
I picked this one up in an antiques market in Cardiff yesterday
Be nice to find out a little more about it

I'll be shooting it in the Service Match at Bisley next Saturday if you're around

I'll be there Neil but wont be shooting, a torn knee muscle keeps resurrecting itself and I don't want to damage it further on those
    old target frames!

I'll make lunch in the clays cafe a social one to say hello to people.
