    Korean Cut Down Garand Bayonet

Plenty of time with little to do but surf the net. Found these at SARCO pretty cheap compared to what they were going for on ebay. These are original Garandicon bayonets which were shortened, refurbished, etc by Korea. The scabbard is interesting in that they didn't shorten it, they rebuilt it. These are all metal rather than fiberglass. Condition of the metal is rough as they made no effort to polish them prior to blueing. Markings were scrubbed. Handles are brand new. Hooks for scabbard no longer work properly as blade has been thinned and it slides around too much to stay latched.

They should now be in the M8A1 scabbard...so who did these? The Koreans you say? The transverse pins are also small and look to have been changed at some point. The originals are invisible and blended. I just wonder if some enterprising soul took a mass of these and workshopped them himself. I know a dealer here that bought a sea container of 15,000 M1icon carbine blades years back and had everything from brand new leather handle to rubber to beat to crap and broken junk... I was able to buy some of the rubber handle jobs when they were selling high for $10 CDN each. I sold them for more than that...
    Regards, Jim
