The OP picture is a still from a circa WWII movie. The rifle he has is a Springfield M1903.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. That we got cold, it's the scope and mount that are a bit strange. The scope is figured out too but the mount is a side mount...

I really want to say that this is a still from a corny 1950s movie. Rifle aside. The shirt he is wearing is not exactly correct, the cut is not right and the breast pocket flaps are not peaked and the buttons are not the right style or color. Even if it was the right shirt, this would be representative of the tropical uniform and he is sitting in what looks like a bishop pine tree but I'm no botanist.
