A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. THANK YOU ! - THANK YOU ! and one more time - THANKS
I have only opened the first group that you sent me. It does prove that plate A T is of the Mk2* (Paratrooper) Model which is somewhat important to me. As a side note my Father was 11th Airborne during WW2. What a Great Find for you to share! If I can ever help you with the MG34 or MG42 or M53 Lafettes Please let me know.

I Thank you for the offer of front lower legs but I have over a dozen upper front legs that need help. Now that said I'm only going to change 3 of them and keep the rest as they are and use scrap metal to make a usable lower leg part. That said I could still use a couple of lower front legs, either Mk1 or Mk1*. Really one of the bigger things that I need is the springs that go between the leg and main body.
I was told that you received the manual part that shows the Mk2* also. How impressive, what a great group and they all (that I checked that is) seem to have the E.B. 851 on them. Of course you do have the real Mk2* tripod. Nice. As I'm feeling better I'll try to get a few pics and post either today or tomorrow. Thanks.

    Dream come true

Well, it's been 5 years since I started this thread.
    WOW, time moves on.

THANKS to Machine Gun Dave at Sarco!
    I don't have to make a Mk2*. I bought and then rebuilt a couple.
I'm going to add more pics in the next week or so but I'll post the following if I can remember how to post pics on this site.

I'll have to redo the other pics as they are to large. That I know how to do, just not at this time.

    Mk2* pics

    As I said before
Dream come true. Thanks Machine Gun Dave @ Sarco.

That said all of the tripods I bought were stripped someplace of a LOT of parts. Had to search in the attic to find a lot of them.
That said L4997 was not too bad.
Missing "goose neck", both traverse locks, T&E, and traverse to body screws. Really not that bad.
The other L5035 was missing the same parts but had the "T-handle" missing and the nut on the back of the traverse that the "T-handle" screws into was removed. Ok, have the blue-prints and a lathe so sometime, I'll make a true replacement for the nut and bolt setup that I made up. The nut and bolt setup works, however.
    More pics later I promise
Since I took the pics I added the traverse stops. Ok, still need to add the little traverse bar screws at each end. ANYONE have any extras for sale??

    Here is L4997

    And the pair L5035 added

What they started like -- Mk2*

I'm still not done with them. They still need a LOT of Loving.

The one had the front leg on the left rear and needed a front screw also.

Whatever, they don't look that bad in the above post.

But here is how I received them.
