I believe that's an NM rear sight too. How thick is the front sight blade? .062" makes it a NM front as well. Nice.

    It's a National Match.

While in high school we got a tour of the TAPCO plant. Owned by the US government but operated by TRW, it extended for almost a mile along Cleveland's Euclid Avenue, and among other things, is where the better M14icon's were built. Because of long production delays at Springfield it took almost five years for the 101st Airborne Division to become the first unit fully equipped with the M14.

Very nice rifle. I grew up just down the road from the plant and my late uncle worked there for many years. I have a few of his tools still. Rick Bicon

Very nice rifle. I would say the rifle has National Match sights on it but it is not an official "National Match" rifle. For one the full auto selector would have been welded with the semi-auto block in place. The receiver of a full auto TRW M14icon would have been electro-penciled with an "NM" after the M14 on the heel of the receiver. TRW did do a production run of built from scratch M14 NM rifles in the 1,000,000 serial number series. The M14NM markings on the heel are quite different. Thank you for sharing your photos. We in the states can only dream of owning an original TRW M14 rifle.

    Cheers,

    fjruple

PS-- The single magazine pouches were generally issued to the USMC. The US Army used the double magazine pouches for the M14.
