What is the story on the Match-Lock and the awesome 'swamped' barrel above it?

What a nice rifle...love to do a hands on for a few minutes.

Top one reminds me of the punt guns they used on flocks of ducks on a river or swamp.

I think the punt guns were quite a bit larger. Mounted in the bow, they had to turn the boat to aim. (Read 'Chesapeake' by James Michener).
Had no idea there was a Krag sniper, thanks.

I do hope you've at least shot it once or twice. I'd very much like to know how the optic performed, as well as the rifle.
