Douvitis Mauser firing pin info needed

I have an 1871 Uruguayan Mauser, rebuilt by St Entinne in 1891. When I got it the firing pin had been clipped. I was told to try getting a Steyr Kropatchneck (sp?) as it appeared to be similar.
It was close, but no cigar...I gave the Steyr firing pin and my numbered original to my gunsmith buddy, and he duplicated the pin on the Steyr on my original. OK so far. What with one thing and another, a couple months slipped by. Now, when I assemble the bolt the firing pin appears to be much too long.
If anyone out there owns one of these, could you measure the length of the pin from shoulder to the tip? And perhaps take a picture of the disassembled bolt? I am fairly sure I have assembled it correctly, but it has been a while...I am happy to shorten it if necessary, but I really need to know how long it needs to be. I suppose I could do it with overall length of the pin as well.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
    Jesse

Perhaps you could post photos of the disassembled bolt? I am very familiar with the M1871 bolt, and the firing-pin protrusion is about 0.060". That is not a specification, just what my example happens to be. But other BPCRs in my possession are similar. And please measure the protrusion "as is". Phrases like "appears to be much too long" are no substitute for measurement.

This is one of those cases where you must beware of the old motto - you can file it shorter, but if you go too far it's difficult to file it longer again. So let's see some photos first.

Grrrr. My wifi is not up to posting photos right this moment. Worse than dial up...
All of my good tools are out in storage. It may be the other side of the weekend before I can access them. I measured the firing pin length overall (crudely) at 6 13/16 " (173.038 mm) The actual "pin" is 1.5", or(38.1 mm) Measured from the top of the shoulder to the tip.
This closely approximates the Steyr firing pin.
As it is now, I can't fit the bolt head to the bolt. If I place the bolt in the cocked position, I can slide the bolt head all the way on, but even then I have.030 protrusion.
I will try to post pics after I figure out why the wifi is imitating dial up. Stay tuned.
