WRA 30 G. 1906 Ammunition

Here are a few pictures of some old original ammunition I got from my father. He told me it belonged to his dad. I know after WWI my grandfather got a new in the grease 1903 Springfield and a New Military Colt 1911 from a WWI Vet. I don't know where he got this ammunition. I have about 36 rounds of it.

It is Marked "W.R.A. CO. 30 G. 1906". I guess that is 30 Government. The case is brass and the bullet has a steel jacket. The primer is in the white with a very heavy crimp around it. You can spin the bullets in the case.

I will try to get better pictures in the near future.

When I was in high school, I bought a nice high number 1903 rifle and use to buy that Winchester 30-06, around $4 per hundred rounds or two hunred for $7. This Winchester ammo
was in nice condition and as accurate as we could shoot. One bit of advice was by an old veteran, he said to clean your bore with hot soapy water, it was good advice

It's a commercial version of the M1906 cartridge. Original M1906 ammo used a cupronickel jacket, not steel. Collectable stuff, so it is.

Ditto what Sunray said. As a youth I spent a week on historic island of Corregidor, Philippines. I spent the week collecting WW2 stuff left lying about (US & Japanese). I still have a bunch of the US .30 cal bullets that are silver & non-magnetic. .30 cal, 150 gr., flat base, single knurled cannelure.
