    Rock-Ola magazine question

    Hello all,

Earlier this year I purchased an all original second block / January 44 Rock-Ola carbine. It's beautiful and it has started by WW2 small arms collection. My question is it came with a U stamped magazine (Union Hardware). For sake of collectability, which is why I bought the Rock-Ola, should I find a Rock-Ola magazine or does it make any difference? I remembered reading a while ago that the magazine did not matter because it was meant to be removed from the carbine and replace often while in use. I just wanted to know your thoughts and if that was correct. Thanks for your time and have a safe holiday.

    Welcome to Milsurps !!
Great way to 'Start a WWII collection' with a later RMC.
For Display, most would want a Mag coded for RMC.
Some buy or try to gather every coded mag(s) for their display carbines.

Do you need the codes or do you have that covered ?

I've broken a cardinal rule.... No answers before pictures are posted. So Please give us a little peek.... Would love to see and hear more about it.
Many here willing to help with questions and help locating odds and ends.

Again Welcome and a Safe Holiday to You,

Thanks Painter...I have the codes for all the USGI magazines. Well, looks like I'll be searching around for a RMC magazine. I see them on the web quite often so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll take a few pics and post. Just purchased a SA Garandicon as well that apparently was obtained by the original owner from the DCM a while ago. It has a cut op rod so that one I'll shoot. Thanks for the reply and I'll post some pics soon. Thanks-

I happened by a Circled IR on GB today, a Michigan seller. (791652326)
Didn't see any for RMC on Ebay today...... of course if I had seen any on the Ebay site they'd have been the Ole 10 rders ;-)
Because of the capacity limits in CA.
    Looking forward to pics...

    Cheers

Sorry about the pics...only so much I can do right now with a phone. I didn't take her all apart...did that a while back for cleaning and everything is legit. I'm ok with 15 round magazines here in California...I have an exemption. I'll pick up a RMC magazine soon.

That is one beautiful rock-ola ! May have to hunt me down one ☺I do warn you though, it may not just stop at the rifles. Pretty soon you'll have to have all the accessories too! The addiction can be strong, that's what happened to me ...years and thousands of $ later haha. Grenade launchers ,pouches and all.what a beautiful start!

"...U stamped..." Indicates Underwood. Everybody, his brother and all their cousins made Carbine parts and Mags. However, most of the original manufacturers didn't make all the parts. Rock-Ola made 13 including the receiver. So there's no such thing as an "all original" Carbine.
Go here for everything you ever wanted to know. The U.S. Caliber .30 Carbines
"...have to have all the accessories..." Yep. And that stuff has increased in value at a far greater percentage than the firearms.
    Spelling and Grammar count!
