Is the UE72 over A18907 the only number? No barred out LB or UE serial?

Looking at my database, I have a note about 1972 to say there was possibly an Australiaicon contract for A4s followed in 1973 by a contract for NZ.

No, Nothing like that....?? What does that indicate? I can try to get some detailed photos of areas to confirm identity. Probably tomorrow.

Itís either been removed in the torch cutting or it was a new Mk3 body. In 1961, 500 Mk3 bodies were converted to A4 having never been completed into Mk3 guns but thatís 10 years before your gun.

Here are some more detailed pics of the markings. I guess it could have been that any additional identifications could have been wiped out by the torch cuts and re-weld process??

Pics give you any more insight?

Question: Why was the date milled out under the Enfield designation? Is that something the MOD would do or the builder of the semi auto?

The gold fill was the builders touch. I would have been fine with no fill.

    Thanks for the information.
