    M1A

The Fall GCAicon Journal should start hitting some mail boxes this week, better late than never. It will include a terrific article on the birth of Springfield Armory Inc. and the M1Aicon. The featured rifle will be one of the first, made while it was still The LH Gun Company.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I bought an M1Aicon years ago in the 40K serial range and had Roland Beaver install a Jan 1960 dated barrel, also had the early T-44 stock in mint condition with the M1
rifle type butt plate. Really nice shooting rifle and without any problems. There was a market for commercial M14 semi auto rifles while the M1 conversions were still
somewhat popular they were never the same as the M14.
