I found this small collection of postmarked envelopes showing the early pre war dates and some clipper ship cancellations. It must have cost a lot to make these trips on the clipper ships during these pre war days.Attachment 97614 Attachment 97615 Attachment 97616 Attachment 97617 Attachment 97618

Did'nt anyone pick up the posted date on that 1st letter! Dec 6th 1941 the very evening before the attack on Pearl Harbour, the "Day of Imfamy" in President Franklin D. Roosevelt's speech to Congress declaring war on Japan icon

Always amazes me to think of how things might have been based on the Boeing 314 or the Sunderland Flying boat, how Howard Hughes never got his Spruce Goose finished, delivering over 500 men in one landing or parachuting delivery. Mixed up chap in his head towards the end, but brilliant in his hey day.............that reminds me must go and wash my hands and put my gloves back on

Unreadable PM postmark, they are ahead of Hawaii by 6 hours...so that's the afternoon before attack by a few hours. Hawaii would be the evening before by a few. Second is Hawaii, a month to the day and in the AM...before.

This letter was addressed to Hans Haurwitz in Berlin. I did some research on him and found the following information. Haurwitz was born in Berlin in 1918 and was a Jew. Before WW2, he took over his family business in Berlin. He was able to survive the Holocaust and came to Erie PA. Later he was manager of the Warren Radio Station. He died in 2015. He was an avid stamp collector and belonged to many collector groups. I do not know how this particular envelope came back to the US but am sure he traded these items over the yearsAttachment 97671 Attachment 97670
