    Opinion On 2 Quillback Bayonets

Snagged 2 Germanicon M1898 quillback bayonets for what i believe was a good deal but I honestly dont know enough about these so i thought id see if yall might know about how much they each might be worth. Unfortunately i was not provided much info and pretty bad pics so i do apologize for that. Info below:

1.) The first is the better of the two. Least amount of rust, lower year, and intact grips it appears. Looks to be a 1905. The seller described it as "Imperial German Seitengewehr Model 1898 Pipe Back Bayonet By Simson & Co, Suhl For G98 Rifles & Scabbard. Circa 1902-17. Pipeback blade with swell point tip. It has a full central fuller. The ricasso is stamped by the manufacturer 'Simson & Co. Suhl'.".

2.) The second is in pretty rough shape. Broken/missing grips, very rusty, 1910-1916 date id say. The seller described it as "WW1 W.K & Cie Solingen Bayonet in Scabbard. Early 1900s. Maker's mark on ricasso. f.".

I appreciate any help yall can provide!!

Sounds like you already have a good idea what they are. Not sure what to add. It will be tough to get grips and screws. Repros are out there but they may not fit right.

Well i paid 130 for the 2 and i figure ill sell the worse off one, after i clean it, and try to get my money back with it. So what im wondering is is a rusty, gripless quillback bayonet worth anywhere near 130 at the moment?

    1) check for crest on rear of pommel if it has one it is probably a Peruvianicon M1909 exact copy of the Germanicon.

I would say not even close, more like $50. No grips is a killer for most people and the rust doesn't help. In good condition these are selling for $100-$150 on ebay. Exceptional examples bring more but that seems to be the average going rate. Guys ask a lot more than that for them but they don't sell. A rare manufacturer can make a difference but I'm not up to date on what is an what is not a rare manufacturer.
