No32 scope sold at Holt's Auction today.

I was nosing around Holt's Auction results for their 13th December sale and spotted a No32 Mk2 Scope they had sold for £650.00. It would have to be considered as a bare scope as the mount was far from original. The serial no is given as w14837?

Here is the link for anyone who might be interested in having a nose,

£650 hammer price which means a total of £845..... I was interested in another item they had but thought the auction was 16th...... anyway the item was .455 Colt 1911, it sold for £2200, total with fees etc was £2860, I would of thought it would go for less due to the pitting etc...... I just hope its gone to a collector and isn't on the road to deactivation.

For anyone looking at HOLTS there is a handy calculator at the bottom of the page to work out the total quite a handy tool,

    Geoff,
I met the guys in charge of the auction at Duxford recently at the HH Car Auctions, promoting their wares.
Had a discussion about their fees, both sellers and buyers.
Personally, I found it a tad expensive to do either!!

The real way to make money at an auction is to be behind the gavel.
Someone brings in a doodad, you sell it for a dollar. You give the owner 75 cents and take 20 cents from the buyer. You just made 45 cents by selling something you never even owned.
    It’s inspiring in its brilliance.

I quite agree but sometimes it works. I recently entered a section 58(2) rifle that I had valued at between £1000 and £1500, I would have been happy to get the lower figure after costs but with the internet interest is sold for £3600, so even after all the costs had been deducted I still received a settlement cheque in excess of £3200..... Happy Days.

I agree Gil, but sometimes there are Bargains to be had, The colt 1911 I was looking at wasn't the best condition and I thought this may of put buyers off........ there was a bit of corrosion, pitting etc to deal with. There where other items which never sold and have enquired about one of them.

My No4T was probably the best deal ever regarding an auction, it never reached the sellers reserve and my postal bid of £450 was the highest, although it looked like the barrel was a sewer pipe it was just dust and crud so I guess it put most folk off....... the auctioneers contacted the seller regarding my bid and accepted ......... with fees on top it was one cheap No4T.
