A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I suspect the seemingly low price would be explained if you examined the rifle. It probably had issues.

Probably, but it’d almost be worth it just for the scope.

The low priced one was a mismatched set, and lacked the accessories.

Can anyone verify the serial number of this No. 4 Mk. I (T)? Enfield - 4MK1-Rifle Firearms Auction Lot-2622 Dec. 1 2018 https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...2/enfield-4mk1 which is a Trials No. 4 Mk. I converted at R.S.A.F. Enfield to No. 4 Mk. I (T)? The rifle serial number is in the same listing by RIA as both "A 1986" and "A 1689". Their one photo does not show the serial number. There were Trials No. 4 Mk. I rifles of both serial numbers, so either one could be correct. I used to own A 1989 No. 4 Mk. I (T).

I feel it was a mis-matched set. Partially "military" mis-matched and partially bubba. Scope mount was renumbered during FTR. Scope case from another T was paired up prior to storage but labeled to scope/rifle. Rifle A1986 appears to have the scope s/n added from A1689. Did V. Ball screw up the scope case because someone before him screwed up the scope mount s/n? Possible?
