    Matching Scope to Rifle

I have a correct Mark 4 T and first issue scope. Which numbers on the scope and rifle should match to have an original issue? Thanks

The scopes serial No. number stamped on top of the wrist is the one first issued, however if it is barred out and another serial put on there then the scope is not original to the rifle.
You then have the conundrum if for any reason the butt has been replaced then the scope serial will be stamped on the wrist with no barred out numbers (If replaced) but it may not be the original scope.

It does not matter if it has a different scope (barred No.'s & re serialed) as the armourers colminated the scope/bracket/pads correctly to the rifle so it would be just as good as the original set up, but if the serial does not match the wrist and they are not barred out then the scope is not original to the rifle and has probably been put on there by some enterprising person.
Anyway thats my take on things could be totally wrong, I am lucky my two are still together after 74 years I know this because the rifle & scope feature in Peter L's book on the T as being used in pad trials no better provenece than that from the great man himself.
