FINALLY!!!!! Rifles in Jail (CA Waiting period)

A few weeks ago, I got an unexpected windfall of cash from a taxation error that had been fixed (sounds a bit like Monopoly). So naturally my first port of call was Gunbroker. To my immense surprise, two of my top three 'wants' had been posted about 24 hours previously. So some unwise bidding later I have inbound a British (repeating) .22 Rifle No.7 and an EAL rifle. The EAL I thought I stole frankly, and I suspect that was because the close time for the auction was rather inconvenient for the USA but I was in Singapore at the time. Pics will be posted when both are out of jail.

Both were part of a collection that came from a chap called John Sukey, who was a consistent and knowledgeable contributor on the first British guns forum about 15 years ago. Anyone know if he's still around?

John F. (Jack) SUKEY 80, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018. (A Tucson resident since 1963, John was born in Chicago, Illinois to John and Pauline Sukey (deceased). He is survived by his sister, Paulette Bremond (John); brother, Robert (Christie); nieces, nephews, and good friends. John proudly served his country in the Army and Air National Guard. He lived life on his own terms and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.) Obituary

Awww maaan. Funnily enough one of the last threads i recall on the British rifles forum was concerning what happens to your collection when you go? At least these items will be fed and watered correctly.

I raised two sons who love shooting and respect the history and aesthetics of vintage weapons. My 'toys' will pass into good hands when I go toes up.

I sold an EAL rifle to John back around 2000. It was the civilian model rather than the military model. I wonder if it's the same rifle. I had two of them that I exported at that time. One went to the US importer (Carl Tong in Scobey Montana) and the other went to John.

Probably the same one as there aren't that many of them out there that multiple identical items tend to be owned - this is the civilian model.

They are not that rare here in Canada. Quite often they are found on a table being sold as a sporterised rifle. I currently have two of the military model.

Yes, regularly on CGN for sale now. Unfortunately some think even though they're beat they're worth a mint.
