    Reich Labor Service Nazi Hewer

This large blade hewer was produced for the "Reichsurbeitsdienst" RAD was created for the purpose of eliminating unemployment among the youth of Germanyicon. Every youngGermanmale was required to serve a minimum of six months in the RAD prior to joining the army. The men were housed in camps and were trained in marching, drilling and digging but were not armed. In 1939 members were given military training and used to perform manual labor. This dagger was adopted in 1934 and was initially worn by both officers and enlisted men. When the officer hewer was introduced in 1937 this dagger was religated to be worn only by enlisted ranks. This massive hewer closely resemble the American Bowie knife. It was designated for use as both a tool and a weapon. Length was 15.8 inches with a blade motto of "Arbeit Adelt" or labor enables. This dagger includes the large leather hanger. Direct questions to dkharalson@hotmail.com Price is $825 which includes shipping.
