    M 44 reloads

Had an M 44 I bought I bought for a song because someone had been working on it who shouldn't touch a gun. They put a side mount on it and cut the bolt and welded it back on. It works, not pretty but it works. Put a scope on it and did some reloading. First loads didn't work but the second one produced a .542 3 shot group. Really happy and want chronograph the load but I'm not shooting it again until I put it in a new stock. Scope kissed me several times until it managed to cut my nose and bruise me around the eye. Damn it was fun though.

"...in a new stock..." Hi. That'll change how it shoots. Change the stock and you'll have to work up the load again.
"...Scope kissed me..." Mounted too far back. May be the rings or bases or just not mounted correctly. Move the scope forward or try a slip on recoil pad. Those add about an inch of LOP. They don't cost a huge pile of money either. About $30 in your local shop for a Pachmayr slip on.

Scope is as far ahead as it can go with the mount it has. Whoever it was worked on the stock too, besides working up the load again is ok with me. Means more shooting time for me.

HiViz makes a slip on recoil pad that fits all Mosin rifles like a glove I have two and really like the them and they will add about 1" to your length of pull.
