    When the Poms pulled out of Malaya and Singapore, the only things that we brought out were what were described as strategic vehicles and materials. That meant the red painted green goddess fire engines (all with 73BR62 type numbers), Bedford and Land rover ambulances and that's about all. The rest was left for Australiaicon, NZ and Malay armies. We';d already sold the tanks to Australia and NZ. The replacement fire engines for our little runways and air strips were the old Bedford QL fire tenders based on the flat fronted GS trucks. Happy and VERY easy going days......
