1901 Carl Gustaf 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser

I bought this in the 90's and it has been in storage. It was graded as VG back then. The stock tag has triangles stamped above the 2 & 3 showing the barrel isn't perfect. There are triangles stamped above the 9 & 0. The wood is good and metal is good (to me)

It does shoot, i have fired it once when I first bought it and it has been in climate controlled storage for over 20 years.

With all matching numbers they tend to sell in the $400-$500 range in the SE US. Less with a mismatched bolt. 1901 is a fairly common year date with over 16,000 produced that year.

Thank you... I really appreciate this rifle, I haven't used it. If I remember, the bolt matches but the bands are different. Who knows about the wood....

The original stock would have been European walnut, but many underwent replacement. You can check inside the stock and handguard to see if it has a matching serial number stamped in the wood. Replacement stocks were often Beech. They are usually very good shooters despite the barrel readings.

I found an article today that mentions the threads on the end of the barrel covered by the green plastic piece. Used to shoot wooden bullets? How does that impact use and value?

Thank you... This appears to be walnut.

We never worried about the plastic ring, present or not. Overall condition mattered. The little ring can be found.
