No series first run Nogoya type 99 short rifle.

This rifle found me recently. No series in tact mum cleaning rod, aircraft sights, monopod and as far as I can determine all matching numbers.
Even a blind nut finds a squirrel occasionally.
Any thoughts on the rarity and value as compared to other 99s would be appreciated.

I don't think it is any more rare than any other Nogoya rifle but that is has everything, is all matching and the mum is intact makes it considerably more valuable than most. Congrats.

HOH, Nice score! I wish that one could talk. It obviously was in the heat of battle and avoided the bolt swapping and mum grinding. Really pretty rare to find these days. I see non matched or missing mum for 300. I am thinking 500-600 for yours. Just a guess-- Salt Flat

The one thing that hurts it is it is missing the dust cover. I second the $500-$600 range.

Thanks guys. Feel very fortunate to have stumbled into it. Nice mate to my partial match undefaced Type 38. It gets better all the bolt parts match. I read the no series has a different rear swivel but think that is the only difference other than the mods made to expedite production later.
One other odd thing the rifle had cosmolineicon on most of the metal but was not dipped as none to speak of on the wood. Apparently applied post war?
