    John,
I often went on NATO exercises around the world as many of us did, and always remarked when we saw Danishicon or Germanicon Troops with hair nets as they struggled to keep their long hair out of the weapons systems!!
Many of whom we later found out were only a part time Army who who worked to rule and only for a few days at a time. Is that the way we are heading????

Perhaps...............I should get my coat, being old school and out of date Military views as an ex RSM and all that!!!

Same with ours now. Now we can grow beards as a general rule even in the infantry...they forget why we didn't. The troops have been sent to procure their own boots within certain guidelines...and claim the cost back. We're the link with the past and reasons why not. The new yes men want room to do what they want and we don't fit that. Better that we spend some time elsewhere...

Strong Resolve ‘95 in Norway. The Norwegianicon reserve troops were like this, with long hair, beards or mustaches as desired...
    No kind of martiality.
For us they really were someting unbelievable.
But they were reserve and called back to duty for the exercise.
