Picked up a 1920 Lithgow a few days ago. When I got it, it was missing both top hand guards, nosecap, and middle barrel band. Luckily I had the metal bits, and even luckier I was able to find the hand guards. They're not perfect, but will do until I find better ones.
Other than the replaced items, it is a matching rifle. Bolt, receiver, barrel (original, with perfect bore) and buttstock all match, and I think I can see a matching number on the underside of the forestock right at the nosecap.
I was under the impression that after the war, Lithgow went back to MKIII production (cutoff installed) but as you can see, this is a MKIII* (no cutoff).
It is marked 1 over D arrow D.
20s dated Lithgows are getting pretty scarce it seems. Glad to have run across this one. Looking forward to seeing how it does at the range this weekend.Information
