    ME MK2 questions

hello back in 2002 I acquired a Martini Enfield .303 out of Shotgun News(cant remember from whom) for less than $300 now I wasn't looking for collector value nor shooter value at least not in the Barrel. so I purchased it just for the action alone cause my plan at the time was to have a
Martini in 30-40 Kragicon so I could semi-retire my two Krag Joregensen in 30-40 one 1898 rifle(full length) and a 1899 carbine(real) frankly I love the 30-40 it seems to be a good all purpose round for my needs and I have about over 1000 rounds just not being shot.. and what arrived in the mail was a very rough ME the action and stock seemed to be in good working order but the barrel was toast(as in warped and a lil bent towards the muzzle) I was later refferd to a guy in Texas(I think its been so damn long ago) named Bryan Fisher who was able to do the barrel swap and make sure it was in good working order after several months I finally got it back and was rather surprised at how it turned out
but after taking it out to the boonies I discovered that the forestock kept slipping forward and it sure as hell didn't like the Winchester brass so after some investigation I noticed what I thought was someone cut the receiver and the hook for the forearm had nothing to catch so after some choice words kinda put it away(2003)
fast forwarding to 2019 I was poking around and discovered the difference between the MK2 and MK3 receivers namely where the forearm is joined with the receiver and it was like a slap in the face..literally so dug the ole girl out and started to poke around some more being lil more knoledgable about things and noticed some anomalies
so no I don't have the original barrel but ive noticed wd stamps all over the trigger lock the barrel bands the buttstock the lever etc but the receiver is a bit of a mystery.the rifle claims to be a ME Mk2 variant( w/ the notch in the receiver) but the forestock is of the ME MK1
is this a very good looking Khyber pass? is it a parts rifle? can any one shed a lil light
thanks guys any info would be helpful and yes im sure ill catch flak for the dumping the original .303 and using something else

I don't have the knowledge but this looks like a made up rifle. The action doesn't look like Enfield production, not enough detail of the stock to be sure but the plate at the bottom of the forearm looks real. The sights, of course, aren't original.

well that's what I think its like it was assembled with different parts from different guns. the barrel obviously since that was discussed when I had the old junk barrel taken off I didn't care about the sights so much I just wanted a correct length barrel and a different cal aside from the receiver itself it looks like all Britishicon made parts

I think you have a Khyber pass rifle. Nothing looks right. I think you may have been lucky when shooting, that it didn't come apart... Be careful... I'd go no further with that one.

yeah I think I only put about 15 rounds of 30-40 Kragicon 220gr rn sp down range before I called it quit mostly due to the forearm sliding forward yeah I was sorta afraid it would be a Khyber rifle but luckily its only the receiver that appears to be a fake all the other parts seem to all have enfield inspector marks on them so its just a matter of finding a new receiver either mk3 or mk4 and swap out the parts

You could always make it a pistol caliber, like 38 Spl...then it should be safe? Maybe not worth the trouble.
