Wood finish on Ishapore No.1 Mk3

Just received my 1986 Ishapore No.1 Mk 3. Checking it over the fit and finish is average to poor, but the wood finish is frankly pretty bad. It looks as if someone has taken 80 grit sandpaper to all the wood and decided that was the best way for people to be able to grip the thing. I thought it might be because they were nearing the end of production and just getting numbers out to finish. Normal/ not normal for Ishapore rifles?

Hi. I've never seen any issue battle rifle that looked sanded out of the factory. Might have been done by a troopie, highly unlikely though. RSM'd have a stroke.
Far more likely to have been as former owner who may have started a refinish job and got bored or didn't know how. Or a replacement stock from a milsurp reseller.

Apparently 1988 / 1986 are the last dates seen.
