    Questions

    Looks really nice.
    Any story behind it ?
Next time you have it apart, get some internal pictures.
Is the left side of the rear sight base stamped S ?
Any markings on the rear sight leaf ?
Have you ever filled out a Data sheet on it ?

BTW: My boy hood home address was 12382

Thx for sharing it and GO RED WINGS !

It's always nice to find them in Canadaicon or the UKicon, (where one of mine came from). It's honest and untouched like the OP's other than having basic maintenance and preservation. It was found in a hay barn in Portsmouth. Here in the USAicon, everyone wants to disassemble, change parts around etc, etc, to make them "correct". It's endless and makes it a real crap shoot when you buy one as to whether it's original or not.

    Agree Brian,
After all the De-milling, lend lease and those destroyed in battle...
At times it feels like there are more M1A1icon's now than were originally made.

I don't own a Folder and doubt I ever will for the reasons you state.... Messed With.
The few I've handled took just a minute or two to see/feel they were put together.
The last one I recently looked at appeared to be a genuine rebuild (I'm good with that) but all internals were late Inland... on a 6 digit.

Don't get me wrong.... I'm not above tweeking and changing parts around to keep my shooters operating at their best. On a shooter I love a rear adj sight, late Op slide, round bolt and the bite a Bayo band gives me. Been experimenting with a post war cast hammer... but I'm off topic.

    Southfork,
Here is a Link to a CC Data Sheet:
Carbine Club Data Sheets - The Carbine Collector's Club

If you don't own a Bolt tool I Highly advise not to take the Bolt apart.

    Cheers,

That is a really good example of a nice M1A1icon. Notice the bevel on the safety. This did not last much longer on carbines. The butt plate casting information looks a bit different then later ones.

But, there's nothing to change on that one. It's a beauty.
From faded memory, I think Brian responded once that there were an 80k more stocks made than full M1A1icon(?).

At least 80,000 stocks if not more. And then Springfield Armory making them too. All as replacement stocks.
