A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... I don't believe that they are making any more...
Caretakership of these pieces of history has a cost, and at the end of the day, something cool and historic is better than some numbers in a bank...

Always a gamble buying a piece of kit like this on any websites, without firstly getting your hands on it to check the cathode tube is still in good order, and not been subjected to light. From memory it is a Delft 1st Generation tube in these and the reason they have the rubber cover with a pinhole in the centre, and rightly named the "just in case" hole.

If the image on the sale site is right it seems to be OK but sadly until you get it in your mits and check the honeycombing carefully for damage very difficult IMHO especially at that price plus the shipping and no doubt Customs bit on top, which would make it a very expensive buy, and a difficult one to send back from the UKicon if found to be damaged.

Gil, you couldn't get it in the UK without filling in the correct paperwork to clear customs regardless who sends it unless its cleared by a freight forwarding company, anything now over £800 something will be impounded............. and to try and find the correct commodity code and fill in the correct boxes is a nightmare, I was lucky in finding an importer who just give me the right info etc, except my item went off the radar again........ until it landed on the senders doormat which led to plan B......

Getting it out the states would be another nightmare.......

Geoff agreed, but they got there OK didn't they from here............lucky buggers!
Customs always amaze me. If the seller put down the goods were only worth £10 for instance and not the real cost $3000 they charge a pitance for their work, put down the real price and get another $1000+ dollars slapped on it.
No Ryhme nor reason behind it all
