    Winchester 1090739

It is currently going for $785 -- but that seems pretty high. Is there anything special about it, other than the fact that it's a Winchester?

All those bidders are awful trusting.
For starters, you can’t sell guns on eBay.
Notice how the seller doesn’t say anything about this being a firearm or the receiver or anything.

Let’s say the seller is a bit short of scruples and send ONLY the barrel, bolt, and sight.

What recourse would the bidder have?

“Excuse me, officer, he sold me this as an ounce of weed but it’s actually only 20 grams.”

I buy at least 50% of the supplies needed for my fishing guide business on E-Bay.. I'm perfectly comfortable buying used - BUT.... you have to know what things are worth in the real world, and I walk away from stuff all the time if it's bid up too high, or I have the slightest suspicion that something's not kosher... Every now and then I end up on the short end - but rarely for much at all...

Noting the large number of bids alone would send me somewhere else...

    Bingo.
Short of underwear I don't buy much of anything new anymore. Auctions get into your blood and it's hard to shake. That $150 weed trimmer at Lowe's? I'll find one at an auction for $10, thank you very much.

    This one drips with scam.
"Of course I didn't send you the receiver! That's a firearm. You can't sell firearms on eBay. I just showed it assembled for illustration. Thanks for the $800. Bye!"

You can buy firearms on ebay. It happens. It's against ebay policy, that's all. Nothing illegal about it.

    Never said it was illegal.
Just said that when the buyer ends up with a handful of parts instead of the Carbine shown, he has no recourse. He can’t very well go to eBay and say he tried to buy something against their policy and it didn’t work out for him.

I have learned, eventually, that there's some stuff on the various auction sites that's none of my business. I worry about my auctions only and hope that eBay doesn't ban me for selling sears, hi-cap mags and collapsible stocks, all of which I've been dinged for before. Of course there's always the chance that some schmuck ratted me out some of the times, but maybe not.

Also, to show what lengths eBay goes to with me, I have actually had several phantom (nonexistent) auctions pulled months and once over a year past the time I originally posted the item. I guess their gestapo software never sleeps.

It's a valid point that the buyer might get scammed. If he has an electronic agreement to buy everything in the pics that could safe guard the buy somewhat.
One of the regulars here placed a receiver only on ebay before. Within the past year wasn't it?

Not gun related, but he does have some stuff up for sale that can be picked up local.

If this WRA auction does run it's course, I'm interesting in the Shipping Method
