    Markings on WWII No4T SCOUT REGIMENT TELESCOPE MKII?

    Attachment 98902Attachment 98903Attachment 98904Attachment 98905

    Not mine I'm sorry to say. A friend of mine recently inherited this and wondered what the various markings refer to.

    A quick search on Milsurps anwered most of my questions, I think:

    BC Ltd = Broadhurst Clarkson Ltd.

    O.S. 126 G.A.

    O.S. = Observing, Snipers?

    Unsure of the 126 and G.A.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

    Charlie,
    I am fairly sure the OS stands for Optical Stores from memory not Observing Snipers, also the 126 thereafter and GA is just a reference number to finding it on a Military system.
    The BC&Co = Broadhurst Clarkson & Co who manufactured them with a number of other companies.
    Peter L may have it at the tip of his fingers though!!

    I believe OS is indeed Optical Stores. Each piece of equipment being given its own unique number, hence the 126 in this particular case. I think that the GA stands for General Assembly.

    The full VAOS part number would be V5-OS 126 GA. The V5 was the ordnance category within the Ordnance Stores part of the system.
