All the C3(not A1's) did in fact come back to Parker Hale and were swiftly renamed M82's, most were sold to the UKicon market as target rifles. All the actions were definately Santa Barbra and all prefixed by the letter R. So look out for them they are out there.

I can definitively state that a large number of C3(not A1) rifles came back to Parker Hale on the 2nd November 1993 in particular R23292 and R29813 which are recorded.

rather than C3A1 rifles fitted across the board with Kahles Scopes, the problems with Unertl is probably what lead to the C3 rifles being retained until Nov 1993.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Page 75 & 76 of the 2004 US Optics Catalogue. Note the possibly "eccentric" text - much of the catalogue is composed of this amazing information.

Note the "Approx." dates stated in the text - as mentioned I believe the "exact" "approximation" of the actual date to be Sept. 11, 2001 (or Sept 12th perhaps).

Note also that the "3rd" limited edition run is starting in 2004, taking us back to..2002 and 2003 for the 1st and second runs of the MST100 scope.

On one of the other sites "specializing" in M40 type rifles, one of the posters stated that they replaced the front objective bell housing on some of the scopes that they refurbished - in fact one poster posted a photo of a "wind chime" assembled using damaged Unertl scope component parts.

So USO was manufacturing all of the component parts of the scope for the USMC, and took advantage of this to manufacture a run of complete scopes for commercial sale.

There are USO marked scopes showing up in USMC surplus sales, but there is debate regarding whether they are replacement centre sections or complete scopes. There is also debate whether a complete scope was used by a USMC personnel to replace a "liberated" Unertl.

Thoughts on the one piece scope mount in Thread #23. Appears to be same as that in Thread #7. Couple of these have shown up in Canadaicon recently as collector sell off their items....wonder if there are any more out there with C3a1 serial numbers. Ron (Canada)
