    Buyers Beware

Without intent to "flame"anyone I feel the need to warn our members of any dealings with Jimmy Scott Bell, DBA ozarktactical@aol.com. He is extremely slow in delivering purchased merchandise.I mailed him bank checks on 30 Jan 09 that he deposited on 3 Feb. My dealer received the rifles on 16 March.[6 weeks!] The AR-15s [SP-1] were in near new condition as advertised. The infuriating thing is,Scott would not answer my calls[caller ID?],answered one of my e-mails[to put me off] and will not now provide a bill of sale to my dealer after repeated requests.Who can understand a businessman[yes,he has an FFL] that has the money and the merchandise,as advertised, and still will not deliver or respond in a timely manner?Oh well, live and learn. Not all shooting folks are stand up and honorable people. He did deliver as advertised but only after I threatened legal action through every enforcement agency that might have an interest. End of story. Nick

I was wondering how long it would be before his name would surface over
here. I tried warning people on the old board, some guy named SloopjohnB
became angry at ME of all people after Jimmy Bell attacked me for calling him out. I tried in vain at the time to get Gloria to do something to no avail.
Deal with this guy at you're own risk. If we can't relay pertinent info to protect
others from frauds like him we are all in trouble.

Fine, the word has been passed, now let's move on.

There are guys I know on this very board that I won't deal with either. But I would rather not make a big issue over it.

    Thanks for the info.

0311, the price for two sp-1 AR-15s made it a BIG issue, AND you are very welcome. Nick

The more people make a big stink out of these issues, large or small, the less they will happen. I want to know about slime-balls before I get taken. Too many people want to ignore shady dealers and sweep their antics under the carpet.

"I've never been screwed by a .30 caliber shooter" was a statement by someone here a long time ago and I have to agree for the most part. Of course, if you frequent gun shows or deal with mail order "gun guys" yoou are going to eventually run into some pretty shady guys. Some of these people get desparate or cynical at some point and figure anything is fair I guess. Or they just get old and lazy or a little senile.
The only person who just flat out screwed me out of a hundred bucks was Alan Aronstein of "High Standard" in Houston Texas, who after about 10 emails and calls, still has my money and the barrel he said he would send.

Easy thing to do is incorporate iTrader into the website. We just started using it on the 1919 board that I hang out on and its actually pretty cool when you figure it out. For those that don't know what iTrader is, its a feedback system.

    Hi Matt...

You are quite right, the automated classifieds rating system for buyers and sellers is already in-place on this site ...

The Quartermaster Stores (click here) has a built-in QM Rating system. If you look to the left side of the screen where it show's the member's name, click on the member's name and you can see many options to find out about that member.

Also, look down the screen at the left side and you'll see an item called QM Rating showing a % indicator (100% is great) as well as a number. If there's no number then that member has no feedback about his sales in the Quartermaster Stores. If there is a number, it reflects the total number of other positive and negative feedbacks that have been left for the member, by other members. A positive number is good.

You can click on the number itself and you'll be taken to that member's Quartermaster Stores area on the site.

So, in the case of member OZARKTACTICAL (click here), you'll see he has had no feedback in selling using the Milsurps.Com Quatermaster Stores classifieds. Just up and to the right of the phrase Member Info:, you'll see the phrase Feedback. Clicking on that takes you to that member's Feedback screen showing the results of member's feedback from other members, including comments made about transactions with him.

If you also look down the left side of that screen further, you'll see a section titled Feedback info: and at the bottom of it, a clickable link for that member's name saying Submit Feedback for:. Although the feedback was designed for our Quartermaster Stores classifieds system, it's fully functional for leaving feedback not associated with any specific advertisement in it. There is a space for "ad number", but that's the ad number assigned within the Quartermaser Stores classifieds and not the CSPicon Gun Shopper section, since it doesn't use an ad numbering system, just regular posts.

So, if any CSP member wishes to leave feedback about their WTS or WTB experiences within CSP Gun Shopper forums, all they have to do is locate the seller/buyer's profile in the Quatermaster Stores and use that link to post their feedback, positive or negative. Since there is no ad number, I'd recommend CTS members be clear about the items involved in their comments, although that field is small, so don't write novels in it.

At this point I do not know what Goria's policy has been in the past on CSP in regards to making posts like this about negative experiences in buying or selling from other members. I plan on raising the issue next time we meet to find out what policy she wishes us to follow here.

    Hope that helps ....

    Regards,
    Badger
